Background and Objectives: The aim of the present study was to compare physical fitness factors related to health and executive functions in adult men with a history of coronavirus infection and healthy individuals.
Materials and methods: In this descriptive study, 200 adult men (20 to 58 years old) were divided into two groups: patients and control groups. Body composition was used to measure body fat percentage, a one-mile treadmill test at a constant speed was used for cardiovascular endurance, a hand-held and isometric dynamometer was used to measure the strength of the shoulder girdle muscles and the leg and back muscles, a one-minute sit-up test was used for core muscle strength, a 20-repetition back squat test was used for lower body muscle endurance, and the N-back and CPT tests were used to measure working memory and sustained attention, respectively. the one-way analysis of variance and independent t-test were used to examine the effect of the independent variable on the dependent variables.
Results: In this study, the coronavirus did not cause significant differences in body composition (p≤0.05), cardiovascular endurance (p≤0.05), muscular strength (p≤0.05), muscular endurance (p≤0.05), working memory (p≤0.05), and sustained attention (p≤0.05) between the two groups.
Conclusion: The findings of the study showed that there was no significant difference between any of the physical fitness factors related to health and executive functions in the two groups. However, the patients in the patient group showed lower scores in cardiovascular endurance, muscular strength and endurance, working memory, and sustained attention.
